Boomkat Product Review:
One of the most enigmatic, mysterious, and defiantly anti-commercial groups to emerge from the New York loft scene during the '90s, the No-Neck blues band formed in 1992 around the core of multi-instrumentalist Keith Connelly and percussionist Dave Nuss. Sometimes operating more as an artists' collective or commune than a band, NNCK (as the group is often abbreviated) membership is in a state of near-constant flux. Most group members have preferred to remain anonymous, leaving mouthpiece duties to Nuss and Connelly, who are generally reluctant to discuss the band much either. Incorporating elements of folk, drone, psychedelia, free jazz, noise, and just about everything else, NNCK has nevertheless carved out a distinctive sound despite the seemingly random component elements.
