Boomkat Product Review:
L.I.E.S.’ Gunnar Haslam mostly steers wide of standard 4/4 on a 3rd album of imaginative atmospheres and pointillist drum programming, entitled Lebesque Measures.
Named after Henri Lebesgue’s mathematical method for measuring volume in geometry… schnooooze, wake up! It’s actually a lucent collection of intricate-yet-minimalist synth figures and drum programming, entertaining the ‘floor with aces such as the electro-jazz light show of Kuniqiu Rises and pendulous acid weave of Nonservo, whereas the rest darts between subaquatic ambience in Nasturtium Leaves to lush, Plaid-like ‘tronica with Infinite and Cyclical, or broadly spacious synth studies such as Naukratis and Reacle.
