Boomkat Product Review:
Eluvium EP covers three tracks over the course of twenty-four minutes of luscious electro-orchestral ambience and experimental songcraft, featuring a typically excellent Four Tet remix. The title track arrives first, shifting through hypnotic looped recordings and reversed strings whilst Matthew Cooper once again takes to the mic with his quivering, endearingly hesitant vocal. As the piece builds up you're reminded of just how distinguished a producer Cooper is within the pop-ambient field, and the decidedly more epic 'A Life In Tides Less Current' impresses further with its processed, rhythmic field recordings, filtered neo-classical swells and washes of soft noise. Finally, Kieran Hebden takes the reins for a remix of 'The Motion Makes Me Last', which lays down a thumping 4/4 accompaniment to an otherwise Harold Budd-like piano-driven piece. The track develops beautifully with some retuned vocals (sliced and spliced into arpeggio formations) all culminating in an upliftingly melodic climax.
