Boomkat Product Review:
Erupting from the same musical volcano which belched out Jan Jelinek all those years ago, Landesvatter has finally delivered an album worthy of the promise set up by his EP on Parotic last year. Opting for a formula of chopped jazz and instrumental samples punctuated by deep house-tempo beats it would be easy to drop Landesvatter into a generic pigeonhole, but he deftly escapes by injecting elements of dub and Kompakt staple beatplay into the mix. What results is a surprisingly measured and mature album that while obviously working well on the dancefloor, also musters up enough flair to sustain your concentration for the duration if you’re listening at home. If you’re a fan of Jelinek’s Farben series of 12”s, or the more stripped down Akufen releases then this record is bound to be right up your strasse. Recommended.
