Boomkat Product Review:
Now then, Louie Austen fans, your ship has well and truly come in with the arrival of this ample new release. It combines a brand new full-length album - packed with disco inflected lounge-compatible smoothness - with a remix collection that mirrors the sequence and tracklist of that album. Contributors to this second disc include regular cohorts Christopher Just and Phonique as well as Acid Washed, Remute, Matzak and Ian Pooley, to name but a few. As with everything else in Austen's back catalogue this is all tremendously weird and knowingly steeped in kitsch, but it's not without its charms either: hearing a man of such advanced years hopping on the Autotune bandwagon during treacly disco number 'Paris' can't help but raise a smile. Or a grimace. Sometimes here it's hard to tell the difference, but that's all part of this unique crooner's charm.
