Boomkat Product Review:
Absolute blinders here from new Hot Flush signing Emi Ono with one of the most devastatingly effective versions of the whole dubstepXtechno thing to date. The two tracks here definitely sit heavily on the techno side of the coin, but running at a sprightly 138bpm they're obviously dubstep compatible but remind us more strongly of old Erosion or Matrix tracks on Chain Reaction mixed with Dettmann and Klock's maximised techno stringency than owt we've ever come across on 'Kuro Shinju'. 'Moon' on the flip morphs between Mala/Shackleton styled kick-step patterns and reinforced techno 4/4 for another completely refreshing take on the style, with the super strength riddims contrasted beautifully by skilled electro synthlines and bleeping ephemera lending a gleam of focussed futurism for good measure. This is definitely one for the tougher techno heads and the FWD thinking steppers alike, and thoroughly deserves a good rinsing at the nearest opportunity. F**kin right!
