Boomkat Product Review:
Absolutely prime techno this week, and pick of the bunch comes from Ben Klock. Following the insanely good 'October' 12" for BPitch, and last years immense album with fellow Berghain resident Marcel Dettman, Ben Klock has steadily risen to the top of the pack as a purveyor of the trippiest and most technically proficient techno currently doing the rounds. His Klockworks imprint is generally reserved for the more experimental end of his functional techno repertoire, but this doesn't mean it's any less than entirely effective, here on 'Steady plus' creating the sort of stripped and lean sqaure bassed beast you know you'd get entirely lost in on the floor with it's maze of filtered and EQ'd machine rhythms occassionally coaslescing and dispersing with the skill of someone who seriously knows how to tease a dancefloor. 'Red handed' again wastes no energy fucking about and strips the rhythms back to the barest hi hat shuffles and a supremely thick bass grind that will practically shift your hips involuntarily if you're caught out near a massive stack of speakers with this on, that's not to mention the wicked rippling acid riff that going to be eating your head up soon enough. Brilliant club tackle, get on it.
