Boomkat Product Review:
Scuba aka Paul Rose returns to his Hotflush imprint with his first new gear on the label since the 'Mutual Antipathy' LP. Continuing his work at the meeting point of techno and dubstep, Scuba provides two tracks set to each tempo, with 'Klinik' ruling the A-side on a technofied dubstep riddim rolling on an undercarriage of hefty bass throb built in a similar style to 7even records' F but replacing the gaseous Basic Channel influences for a more up to date Berlin/Berghain chords driven sound in a similar style to his Scb edit of 'Hard Boiled'. 'Hundreds And Thousands' on the flip should be noted as his first foray into 124bpm territory, making his sound compatible with the rest of the Techno/House fraternity with a slow burning club track retaining some essence of dubstep swing with slightly off kilter hi-hats. Any technoXdubstep fiends should be all over 'Klinik' though, it's a Killer. Big twelve.
