Boomkat Product Review:
Always coming with the strangest new creatures, NPIP present the compelling debut of an 18 year old South London composer called Nathan Geyer aka Jire. Emerging from a background in classical composition, Jire's 'Kiowa Polytope' is a keenly considered new take on classical minimalism, acoustic improvisation and lower case electronica woven with inspiration from "across the visual arts and literature". In it he employs elements of rhythmelodic tribal percussion, acousmatic sampling and concrète process to shape four buckled structures at once recalling the crooked designs of Micachu and the de-composed aesthetics of Wanda Group or Jason Lescalleet and the Kye label. It's certainly one of the most striking debuts we've heard in 2014, no less. Recommended!
