Boomkat Product Review:
The debut full length from US three-piece Headlights, 'Kill Them with Kindness' is off to a good start instantly with the glorious strings-drenched 'You Old Street'. Only two minutes into the track and we finally get treated to the honeyed vocals of the bands two singers Erin Fein and Tristan Wraight, and when we do it feels like the perfect introduction to the record to follow. Somewhere in between 'classic' indiepop and the skewed leftfield gurgles of The Fiery Furnaces, Headlights certainly have a distinct sound, yet occasionally they rely a little too much on the emotional charge when they're clearly much more at home on tracks that push the envelope a little more. Highlights include the stompingly good fun 'Owl Eyes' and the synth heavy 'TV' - two tracks that would be equally at home on a mixtape or late night on Radio. It's always a mission finding high quality leftfield pop, Headlights are here to help.
