Boomkat Product Review:
Chilean band Panico are reputedly massive in their homeland and Franz Ferdinand are confirmed fans of their work (Kick was recorded at the Glasgow band's studio in Govan). This is album number six from the quintet formed in Santiago, and here they show a considerable pedigree in the age-old art of new-wavey, thorny indie-rock. Toting razor-edged guitars the band do a cracking job with the likes of opener 'Illumination', the massive-sounding 'Icon' and the Interpol-ish 'Algodon' whilst elsewhere getting in touch with more tropical, danceable sounds during 'Reverberation Mambo' and the punk-funker 'Guadalupe'.
