Boomkat Product Review:
UK noise rockers Aufgehoben return to the always impressive Holy Mountain imprint for their fifth album, which starts out as a preposterously aggressive descent into searing distortion via 'Ignorance Oblivion Contempt', only to get a whole lot more riotous as the record progresses. At least in its opening phase you can slightly make out something resembling conventional rock band instruments, but it's all so caked in distortion it's rather hard to tell. Next, 'Annex Organon' is more of an abstract piece, with much clanking of metal and rattling of chains, finding the group in what might be termed 'pensive' mode. By the time the band reach the twenty-six minute drum massacre 'Jederfurisch', they've really hit their stride, thrashing around with all the energy of free jazz, coupled with the frenetic feedback exercises of Wolf Eyes.
