Hyperdub swerve into deepest Detroit terrain with a pair of educated grooves from Kyle Hall. His recent remix of Darkstar's 'Aidy's Girl...' was an unexpected detour for the label some months ago, and obviously good enough for Kode 9 to call him up for a full solo release. Notably the young Hall was mentored by Detroit luminaries Mike Huckaby and Rick Wilhite, which no doubt developed his understanding of real 313 house styles. With 'Kaychunk' he offers a Funky compatible winner for heads and feet, shuffling up Shake styled percussive arrangements with fluttering hi-tech soul keys and a pocket full of funk. On the flipside he melts our heads with 'You Know What I Feel', licking off slivers of tricky P-Funk motifs and sweeping synth pads reminscent of Recloose while the rhythm begs feet and shoulders to do the Detroit soul 2-step. Fans of Karizma, Anthony Shakir or Floating Points DO NOT want to miss this!!!
