Boomkat Product Review:
100% exclusive for your ears, this latest compilation from France's Karat label comes bursting with Vitamin A - as the likes of The Mole, Dolibox, Automat and Cabanne all show up for the party. Falling into the minimal house enclosure, 'Katapult' is sparse without becoming empty; as firm edits and deep grooves provide lush texture and aural flourishes. Kicking off with The Mole, the compilation is pitched off on an immediate tangent as 'Conscience Down By the Tracks Near the 80' rolls a chrome plated groove down a steep incline into sexy vocals and a melody so catchy it should come with a health warning. Next to the stage is Dolibox who appear with some funk-house in tow for 'Winter Is Late', before Automat bring the lights down through some Plexiglas electro and Mikael Weill is upbeat all the way despite a melancholic undertow. Elsewhere, Skat delivers some prime house styles on the formidable 'Nightwalk', Sonja Moonear's '99 Erikas' is understated to the point of translucency, whilst Vita's (aka Mikael Stavostrand) 'Carefully Hiding' is an epic of Dostoevsky proportions. Karrot rope!
