Boomkat Product Review:
A longtime player with Bpitch crew, Finnish ex-pat Kiki aka Joakim Ijas brings a solid flavour of his grooving elastic tech house and minimal styles to the label with his follup to 2004's 'Run With Me'. Kiki's sound is a well considered throb of pristine minimalism for the more glamorous side of the clublife, from the refined cello and frictionless groove of 'Autumn Leaves' to glinting metallic timbres and hints of slide guitar on 'After The Storm' or mid-90's deep house reductions on 'Good Voodoo' featuring Chela Simone you really couldn't imagine this fella ever breaking a sweat. The albums moodier moments like the Badalamenti strings on 'Twins' or pulsing Berlin club tracks like 'Mogadishu' swing the set into a darker contrast, making for a well rounded listen from end-to-end. If you've bought into the sophisticated minimalism and modern tech-house of Marcin Czubala or label mate Sascha Funke you'll adore this.
