Boomkat Product Review:
The irrepressible Wolfgang Voigt is back with the first of a new limited edition 12" series inspired by that paragon of literary paranoia, Franz Kafka. In classic Profan style, this project is more playful than it is pretentious, Wolfie sampling a Kafka audiobook to create some swinging Herbert-style micro-house; every sound bar the kickdrum is sourced from that German language recording. On the A-side '1.1' this approach works wonders, as random syllables are cut out, pitch-shifted and clustered to form a surreally effective dancefloor killer - proper metamorphosis, ahem. '1.2' is a more minimal, schaffel-flavoured number, perhaps a little too wonky for the club but compelling listening all the same. All in all a very tasty 12" for the art-house pickers.
