Boomkat Product Review:
Devastating album of epic dancefloor rituals and visions from Jamal Moss (Hieroglyphic Being) and Noleian Reusse in their prized Africans With Mainframes guise, amounting to their most substantial and impressive collection.
Rife with distortion and ruthless with the kicks, in one fell swoop the hard-wired genius of K.M.T. shows up a whole wave of lo-fi house experimenters as fassy dilettantes with new plugins.
In no hurry at all, the duo take their time to extract optimal levels of intensity and hypnotic groove from each track, from the nine minutes of bludgeoning bass drums and skronky, febrile organs in Anachronistic to the battery-creamed arpeggios and head-gassing dissonance of Qustul Artifacts.
Their instinctive tendency toward salty noise and electrical hum for the majority of pieces, means that numbers like the relatively lucid acid burner Hierarchical and the slower, bomping tweak of the title track stand out further. But, if you’re willing to commit, then the wildest sensations are to be discovered for the dancefloor in Book Of Gaties and the breathless Chicago banger Negroid Spinx, or especially the reversed madness of Meriotic Script.
