Boomkat Product Review:
Highly intriguing gear from the ever interesting Dreck records with four tracks of Harmonic krautrock debted experiments from Stefan Schwander aka Background record's Rhythm Maker. 'Just Drifting' sees Schwander in mantric krautrock rock mode, moving away from straight dancefloor material with a selection of involving repetitons calling to mind a less ecstatic Manuel Gottsching crossed with Carl Craig for his use of tempered trance evoking loops and a focussed long distance gaze. The tracks could be considered useful on the dancefloor in the hands of the right DJ, especially the B-side which contains more prominent bass heavy rhythms but this is ideally suited to involved home listening for the best results. If you were into the Delia Gonzales and Gavin Russom record on DFA or fancy a post club version of Carl Craig's latest styles jump on this quick.
