Boomkat Product Review:
Freeze-dried batch from the Greensleeves archives, Junjo presents: The Evil Curse of the Vampires is a straight-up wicked chaser to the recent Linval presents: Space Invaders, which also collected a stack of the original vocal cuts used by Scientist to create two of his toppa-most classic dub sides.
Apparently mixed by Scientist at King Tubby’s at midnight Friday 13th June 1981 (although we’re inclined to take that with a pinch of green), the first platter marks up as one of dub music’s best known and most-loved, and sounds weighty as ever thanks to a faithful new re-master.
For the first time, the 2nd plate holds the full vocal versions of tunes from Wailing Souls, Wayne Jarrett, Johnny Osborne and Michael Prophet, whose rhythms - all laid down at Channel One - formed the basis of an album which has pretty much gone down in Jamaican dub reggae folklore as one of its best known.
