Boomkat Product Review:
U freakin' what?! John F.M. comes heavy on all angles with this Detroit dazzler for Omar-S' FXHE - surely one of the best 12"s to come out of the city in 2015?
Just like his debut earlier in the year Where My Roots Lie, this - only his 2nd solo outing - displays an instinctive feel for the Afro-futurist soul of techno in four variations.
For us, it's really all about the opening cut; emerging from collaged intro to bowl us over with the kinna loose and astrally freaked construction we'd expect from say, Howard Thomas or maybe a delirious Stingray.
The other three are dope too, but quite different, taking in the rugged MPC knocks and vibing R&B vox of Motion, plus the sticky, abstract soul of Alone - mixed by Omar-S - and a rude acid grind called Gump to close. A real keeper...
