Boomkat Product Review:
"Jerky versions Of The Dream" was Ex-Buzzcocks and Magazine man Howard Devoto's debut solo album, recorded in 1983. The album was assembled with the assistance of fellow Magazine alumni Barry Adamson and Dave Formula, and sees Devoto pursuing the more pop oriented material characterised by Magazine's later work. The album includes the single 'Rainy Season' which is a prime example of Devoto's strengths as a performer and writer, managing to make an essentially mainstream-oriented song sound caustic and generally rather askew. This 2007 re-mastered edition comes expanded with three Peel Session recordings plus alternate versions of 'Cold Imagination' and 'Rainy Season' (both the 7" version and the 'Rainforest (Variation N16) instrumental).
