Boomkat Product Review:
Secondo have a funked-up cut-up flare that is so refined and inspired that it rivals the mechanical genius of Berlin's Soundhack crew with an almost effortless flow. With each and every twelve on the Dreck imprint (this is the sixth), the label and artist have managed to deliver the funk in an inspired, surprising and always boundry-pushing fashion. Following the insanely good delirious re-edit of the classic Wordy Rappinghood for the last 12" ("It's OK, I've Overstood"), "It's Late Any Time' is a brilliantly spliced-up demolition of a Jonzun Crew track, heading off with solidly re-engineered drums for the disco beat, then adding the cuts, strings and synths, vocals and some slick cut up editing to deliver another truly righteous and killer house cut. The flip unleashes 'Discombabulate' which re-edits Shannon's 'Sweet Somebody" complete with ace cut up string samples, fat anaolgue acid bass stabs setting out a brilliant groove, while the cleaner drums and percussion bring it up to date, the jack factor very high indeed, as the re-edit is chopped and dropped in exactly the right places, rounding off another blinder in proper Dreck style. Dynamite.
