Easily one of the finest producers working within the the German techno and house arena today, Stephan Laubner's 'Invisibility ep' is due to go down as a future house classic. 'Birdart' is the epic first track, taking a hefty cue from Omar-S' deeper Detroit house excursions, over the 12 min time span, STL works himself into a lather of perfected house rhythm developments, crafted from a palette of raw and unrefined Roland 707 drum machine patterns and THAT melody. It's a superbly unsettling lead line that sounds like something you may hear coming from a dancefloor in Twin Peaks, were it located in a district of Berlin, only Berlin has been moved to the coast and invaded by a flock of abstract seagulls, I must say, this is absolutely sick. 'Also included are the downbeat experimentalism of 'Invisibility' and an extremely useful set of 10 locked grooves. 'Secret Place' on the flip is equally unhinged, this time upping the jack factor amidst some severely weird out analogue sounds for a very tasty slice of trippy techno, while 'do the undo' strips it all back for a Jamal Moss styled, extended trip into lo-fi jack minimalism. it's all worth it for the class 'Birdart' alone though, killer tune!
