Boomkat Product Review:
Having started out towards the end of 2006, the InFiné label releases its very first compilation, gathering ten tracks that the label feels best showcase its diverse roster. The album opens with a solo piano rendition of Derrick May's 'Strings Of Life', courtesy of Francesco Tristano, with a little remixing and retouching from Apparat and Kiki. After 'Strings Of Life' comes 'Wings Of Death', a stirringly gloomy piece that rattles with echoing, distortion-laden guitar chords during an inspired middle section. Further highlights arrive from Clara Moto (with vocalist Mimu) on 'Deer And Fox', Aufgang's classical/electronica hybrid, 'Channel 7', and Spitzer's 'Too Hard To Breathe' - a fine piece of brooding electronica adorned with vocals from American singer, Kid A (who occasionally sounds a little like Bjork). Rounding off the compilation, label co-founder Agoria arrives with the ten-minute epic, 'Libellules', an expansive, patiently building melodic tech-house construction that's a fine ambassador for the InFiné sound.
