Boomkat Product Review:
Tape Loop Orchestra gives a ghostly kiss-off to its current cycle with a bookbound collection of over 100 photos that inspired the ‘Interiors’ LP trilogy, plus a CD album of washed-out recordings written exclusively for this release.
Erring to the respectable side of voyeurism, TLO’s ‘Private Space’ book presents a mightily evocative haul of “found” images that provided the original cues for Andrew Hargreaves wistful flights of the imagination. Devoid of humans, the rooms stand as vessels or reliquaries of trinkets and ephemera that act as emblems of their inhabitants’ aspirations and signatures of private lives. Leafing thru their sepia pages, firstly TLO, then you, the gazer, become “theoretical occupant” of these spaces, with the accompanying CD of cobwebbed music emphasising the paradoxically inside/detached nature of the release and our relationship to it.
