Boomkat Product Review:
You've seen the bileboard, strobed out to the video, now get your dirty mitts on the bezerker ballistics of Powell's 2nd salvo for XL.
Foreshadowed by the Albini-baiting promo campaign, Diagonal's No.1 warhead follows the careening trajectory of 'Sylvester Stallone / Smut' with two tributes to his heroes - Big Black's Steve Albini and Suicide's Alan Vega - delivered as only he can.
With a nod of approval/dismissal from Albini, he fillets a Big Black live recording into the rollicking rolige of 'Insomniac' up top, whilst a choice Vega outburst is the keystone to 'Should've Been A Drummer'.
Both cuts find the most dense, incendiary examples of his work to date, still displaying an utter disregard for other, current styles whilst barrelling at a 100mph down his own post-apocalyptic highway.
