Boomkat Product Review:
The admission of Audionom to its roster marks something of a departure for Swedish imprint Ideal - a label that traditionally specialises in noise and the more extreme quarters of electronic music. Instead, Audionom qualify as a comparatively pop-oriented guitar band. They draw some influence from krautrock and take a healthy dose of new wave in their stride, but 'Inside' reveals a refreshingly upbeat aspect to their sound, clashing sheeny synthesizers with bright, jagged guitars. 'Down' is bookended by hard techno drum loops and filtered whooping (it's all a bit Scooter for a moment there), but once the main thread of the song kicks in the melodic bass riffs are suggestive of Peter Hook taking up surf rock, whilst the vocal delivery strays close to Alan Vega territory.
