Boomkat Product Review:
Ace debut release from Ryan Hunn sitting heavy on the nexus between post-Dilla bump beats, dubstep futurism and wonky's unravelled beat sequences. 'Hyper' makes his introduction with a cool Flylo styled beat with a muffled bassline, while 'Incoming' sounds like The MF Gaslamp Killer getting funky with a kazoo and 'Murky' cools off with a psychy off beat interlude. 'Too Much' swings the pressure upwards for a primed dancefloor cut with traces of dubstep in the swung woodblocks weighted by deep subs and set to a swirling background of electronic ephemera. The EP closes with the woozy textures of 'Kaleidoscope', creating friction with crackling ambience and a fusion of organ sounds with dubbed rhythms sounding like The Caretaker smoking with Lee Perry. Fans of Dabrye, Bullion or Floating Points should be checking this!
