Boomkat Product Review:
Step up Beenie Man, one of Dancehall's most enduring and often controversial characters for a wicked 4 album retrospective from Greensleeves. Since the age of 5 Beenie Man has earned himself a status to be envied within Jamaican music, as he was taken under the wing of Henry 'Junjo' Lawes and had recorded his debut single by the time he was 10. Over the 80's he honed his Deejay skills and was ready to rule the scene in 90's. The first disc, 1994's 'Guns Out' is a legendary soundclash between Beenie and Bounty Killer, settling a score in fine style with a slew of killer riddims fiercely voiced by the clashing pair. 'Beenie Man Meets Mad Cobra' follows in 1995, produced by Patrick Roberts for Shocking Vibes and featuring some crucial cuts from each MC. The third disc collects the best from Beenie and Spragga Benz on 'Two Badd DJ Two' produced by everyone from Ward21 to Awful Productions while a fourth disc takes a more conscious angle with rootsy productions featuring Dennis Brown and Triston Palmer calling for an end to ghetto war. Very rude.
