Boomkat Product Review:
A prelude to their forthcoming Origin: Orphan album, due this september, 'In The NA' comes accompanied by two B-sides and two remixes. For at least ninety seconds, 'In The NA' sounds like the most improbable single you've ever heard, held together by ticking clocks, air raid sirens, peculiar electronic noises and the unsettling sounds of hyperventilation. When in full bloom the track makes more sense, sounding a litle bit like Of Montreal channelling Roxy Music through the verses before bringing to mind fellow Canadians Stars in the synth-peppered choruses. After two solid B-sides comes a fashionably sidechained overhaul from Dolby Anol - and the Crystal Pepsi remix might have been even better were it not for the irritating, detuned spoken vocal with terrible lyrics to boot. This patchy reworking comes courtesy of none other than Stuart Price (of Madonna/Thin White Duke fame) and Jake Shears (of Scissor Sisters), which is a pretty big collar for The Hidden Cameras.
