Boomkat Product Review:
Deadboy's 'If U Want Me' is surely one of the most craved records of the year so far. It's the perfect follow-up to the equally addictive 'U Cheated' anthem, shimmying the formula of Feminine R'n'B, flexible house and fat subs to luscious effect, and becoming a highlight in sets of Jackmaster, Bok Bok and Oneman over recent months. In achingly on-it style he bends the unbalanced synth beams of Kode 9's 'Black Sun' through a prism of 90's house and American club inspirations, cutting into the dancefloor timeline to expose the sinuous connections between Robin S' 'You Got To Show Me Love', Fuzzy Logik's 'In The Morning' and the kind of NYC R'n'B-tek explored by Kingdom. Frankly it's got us hooked. The poppy frothiness is sublime, while the rhythm is a dancer's dream, sexy, flexing and universally appealing - without a doubt one of the year's strongest twelves - not to be missed.
