Nearly 10 years since their incredible Jungle mix for FACT, Raime rinse thru another pile of forgotten gems and little known ’94-’96 bullets in a ravishing new mixtape for Reel Torque.

Also following up their crucial dancehall mix of 2017, ‘If This Is A Dream, I Don't Ever Want To Wake Up’ finds Raime returning to the apex of jungle’s eternally influential run during the mid ‘90s, when it emerged in its classic form after the accelerated rush of hardcore rave. It’s a deeply personal selection for the duo, pieced together from rare and obscure 12”s discovered over the years and finally reaped from their wants-list after haranguing owners of decent copies (and shelling out for them in the process).

Like their now-legendary Fact mix they focus on lesser known and overlooked gems at the expense of well-known classics, but this time they go a layer deeper, strafing the shadows of jungle’s seminal phase to highlight relatively unknown tunes that were nonetheless quintessential to the style, and which, more than anything, tick all the the right boxes in Raime’s rigorous quality test.

As any followers of the duo’s output since 2010 will surely acknowledge, Raime’s mixes are practically as important as their productions and ‘If This Is A Dream, I Don't Ever Want To Wake Up’ is no different. The selection and inch-tight mixing makes for an truly immersive session that beautifully lives up to the mix’s evocative title, and feels like the fulfilment of a teenaged dream for two junior junglists at arms-length from the sound's major city epicentres, out in suburban ‘90s Reading. For now the tracklist will remain under wraps and the mix will only be available on tape, but we’re sure the spotters will have a field day in the meantime...
