Boomkat Product Review:
Superb deep cuts from Bruce, Rhythmic Theory, Glances, and K-Lone, marking the end of a chapter for Bristol dance bastion Idle Hands
‘IDLE065’ hustles figures close to the bosom of Chris Farrell’s key shop and community node for a fitting send-off, for now, to the label which has hosted a serious roll call of artists since 2009. The EP also acts as elegy for Alex T - a beloved mainstay of Leeds and far beyond, who was taken way before his time - with Bruce’s glass-eyed roller ‘Gary Deep’s Snyder Dreams’, while longtime faves Rhythmic Theory cue up sleek square bass in the hypnotic deep tech swang of ‘The Black Forest’, Glances tuck it somewhere darker with the bendy bustle and parry of ‘Swagger In Bricks’, and K-Lone plays it down to Farrell’s deep house tendencies on something like a furry SND joint in ’Sub Club.’
TTFN, Idle Hands.
