Boomkat Product Review:
Some of Nathan Fake's most addictive and engrossing material ever, this. The Border Community boyo channels lysergic braindance, dreamy kosmische and sweeping Detroit styles into four tracks designed to wreck headspace and clubspace alike. Lead and title track 'Iceni Strings' is particularly captivating, sounding like late 70s cold wave re-routed through the desk of Richard D. James's Polygon Window; the grand, trippy harmonics of 'Sense Head' look back to early Fake belters like 'Outhouse', 'The Sky Was Pink', etc, but with a dislocating, Boards of Canada-ish smear across the lens; 'Bauxite Dreams' sees us out on a Motor City 2020 tip, its sci-fi synth spasms and chopped hi-hats echoing primetime Juan Atkins and especially King Britt's recent Fhloston Paradigm gear. Really strong EP.
