Cult box banger Gesloten Cirkel showcases his patented variation within a style across a mini-LP of tweaked out acid, electro, blasted Bunkerisms and screwed cyber-beatdown
Brimming with the sort of sounds that properly tickle the club’s nether regions, the producer’s ‘I Live In The Midwest EP’ is his first since ’22 although it sounds like it could come from any pontiff his 15 year+ catalogue that kicked off on I-F’s Murder Capital.
Doing it for Barcelona’s Selvamancer, he hoofs killer clods of signature darkside electro suss in the mainlining trample and nasal synth burn of ‘Everything for the Dev’ and sleazy deviance of his hairily distorted finishing move ‘Balls’, whilst pursuing a line of didgeridoo-at-a-Bunker rave in ‘J-Chant’ and nipping his fire acid lines with brain-eating precision on its title tune.
For something a little more wayward, it’s great to hear him dicing with slower grooves on the Ratsnake or Kemetrix-compatible bilge-pump of ‘A Better House’ and gruelly dollop of ‘Brainy’. Wish the head-squeezing electro compression of ‘You Should Post’ was twice as long, but can’t win them all. Might as well give ’Submit X’ another rinse then.
