Boomkat Product Review:
The Hasbeen is the sometime dark pop alias of Dutch scene legends DJ Overdose and Alden Tyrell. Their only previous output to date under this name is limited to two severely limited 12"s on Clone, while this one has been teasing electro fiends for far too long as brief clips circulating the internet. Swiching their allegiance to the Frustrated Funk imprint for this release the pair explore more dystopian emotions with the coma-slow epic 'I Fall To Pieces', sounding like Tangerine Dream munching valium with Thomas Dolby. They cleverly follow this with the beautifully mournful 'Central Do Hasbeen', featuring a cinematic solo piano score with synth accompaniment, reminding of something from the Crepuscule label circa 1984.
