Boomkat Product Review:
Future techno viking Peder Mannerfelt trills his drums and chattering arps off the bone with sizzling, reticulated results on his maiden mission for hard drum scene leaders Nervous Horizon.
Playing deep into the label’s tastes for twisted drums and shearing electronics, Mannerfelt tilts between uptempo, acidic spins on mahraganat and mutant 100bpm pressure. The producer for fellow Swede Fever Ray plays keepie-uppy with the percolated trills and seething raw arps of ‘Big Ball’, and sustains the higher tempo with an unyielding tension in the precision-tooled machine rhythms and dread drones of ‘Floppy Size’. On the other hand, he swangs waists wider at 100bpm with the infectious, technoid tresillo swag and radioactive riffage of ‘Für Immer’, and sends hips gyring into hyperspace with the rollicking dembow of ‘The Great Stink’.
