Boomkat Product Review:
What the funk is this?!?! Well, it appears to be two scorching disco mutilations from Bar harbor, Maine's Pablo Mandelbrot, although we have it on good authority that this is actually the work of someone quite well known travelling incognito. Unlike the swathes of bearded Balearic snobs, Pablo really knows how to cut loose with his disco chops, finding a spot between the styles of Marc E and Tiger & Woods where he can really go to town with deadly pivots and truly hypnotic arrangements. A-side 'Hot Swap' is so heavy, you'll even need to adjust your needle to play for proper results (no shit!). It's a highly curious blend of submerged disco psychedelia and elephantine production values - that bassline will bowl you over - made to sound wickedly out of time and place like the best edits should. 'Phantom Power' hits squarely on the flip, dicing up chicken scratch guitar and smoked boogie breaks like the ruder cousin to Smith 'N Hack and equally as effective. Hand stamped white labels, a must for fans of Soundhack, Cottam, Tiger & Woods, Marc E, and all that - don't miss!!!!
