Boomkat Product Review:
Ace dub LP from legendary selector, producer and arranger Tappa Zukie with a long lost relic from the archives. This one has been sitting on the shelves of Tappa's studio since the late 70's, a project he intigated himself in order to give some respect to horn players like Tommy McCook, Vin Gordon or Deadly "Headly" Bennett who were all too often dubbed out of existence by producers looking to use only the drum and bass sections of track for their dub versions. The rhythm section of these track are still as strong as ever, but the horns are largely pushed up in the mix, adding large splashes of colour to what would often be abstracted rhythm and sound based trcks, making for a very refreshing and unique take on dub from way back when. Players on this LP include Vin Gordon, Deadly "Headley" Bennett, Lennox Brown, Bobby Ellis, Zoot "Scully" Simms, Sticky, Sly & Robbie, Earl "Chinna" Smith and Ansell Collins.
