Boomkat Product Review:
After a bit of a break, Morr Music’s loveable 7” offshoot returns with this gorgeous debut release from the excellent Team Forest. The pop aesthetic is preserved in glorious textures that immediately bring to mind the hybrid noise of the magnificent Hood. A-side track ‘Home’ comes complete with the necessary luggage – tinkling/grinding electronix, semi-accoustic guitar, analogue synths, curiously addictive, broken male/female vocals and a lonesome banjo. The formula is enriched with a homespun production that comes across as delicate, rather than needlessly lo-fi, and the electronic/accoustic interchange evokes the sound of that other great North of England outfit – The Remote Viewer. ‘I cannot care as much as i’d like to’ is more immediately electronic, a staggered electronic crunch brought to life with a deep organic bassline and some ethereal guitar strings. This is, indeed, indiepop at it’s absolute finest. A long forgotten memory of how time consuming and rewarding record shopping used to be, coming home with that gem of a record that nobody else would have or know about...listening on the stereo with a broad smile creeping up at you over the horizon. Magic.
