Boomkat Product Review:
In the shadows of Hexadic - his first new album since 2009 - Ben Chasny a.ka. Six Organs of Admittance catches our breath with this arresting acoustic inversion and follow-up.
Where the first volume veered between face-melting feedback hymns and elaborate chaos, this one is utterly haunting in its menacing quietness and blue solitude. And in that sense it could be said to epitomise the versatility of Chasny's Hexadic System of playing and composing music.
His influences are now so deeply engrained that he's beyond cosmosis and assimilation, expressing a transcendent, intimately psychedelic music that is folk, blues, chamber music and all the integers between, yet simply his own.
Rainy Manchester days were made for this record; and we're pretty sure it's suited for your sh*tty weather, too, wherever you are.
