Boomkat Product Review:
Strong EP showing from Matt Dear, digging deeper into that richly textured, mid-paced techno-pop soil that's been his signature ever since the world-beating Asa Breed LP. His voice just gets better and better too: a leering, laconic croon, like a drug-worn David Byrne, multi-tracked to perfection - it conveys the infectious tune of 'Her Fantasy' with great character and aplomb. Really classy stuff. 'Crimewaves' is more off-kilter, driven by organ paps and a decidedly odd, oom-pah style rhythm, it nonetheless swells to a convincing and dizzyingly psychedelic climax. Tornado Wallace supplies a remix of 'Her Fantasy', normalising its itchy funk into a fairly straight-laced electro-disco groove - effective material the DJs, but it's got nothing on the original.
