Mutant material from Terranean boss Luke Lund, who forms squelchy delay feedback into psychedelic stress balls of complex sound design. A sonic bouncy castle for experimental noize lovers of all persuasions.
There are no tunes on "Helikaalinen" and it's absolutely bereft of bangers, but if you're into textured, mind-altering delay feedback improvisations then you're really in for a treat. Lund basically takes the dub mixing desk echo technique to its logical futurist end-point here, eliminating all of the other extraneous sound completely and working completely with the effect. The squelching slapback and lurching rise and fall that should be familiar to anyone who's fiddled with a digital delay box before is rendered in HD resolution on "Helikaalinen".
It's startlingly compelling too. Lund is an adept sound designer but also has an innate understanding of the sensuality and physicality of the elements he's working with. Although the sound palette is spare, he pushes each trapped, repeating loop to the limits, squeezing out frequencies and morphing sounds with a chromium shimmer.
