Boomkat Product Review:
Harriet, named after Charles Darwin's favourite freshwater turtle, is an album that strives to present fingerpicked acoustic guitar in various contexts, from the Derek Bailey-inspired opener 'Dots & Lines' to the borderline easy listening of 'Tramin'. Taunus brings to mind the instrumental compositions of Morr alumni FS Blumm, (who indeed, is a part of the band) and Wechsel Garland. These pieces are undoubtedly very lovely, finely executed and recorded with the utmost warmth and intimacy, experimenting with lounge jazz one moment (as on the title track), and then dabbling in Tortoise-style post-rock with 'Hintern', even throwing in a few field recordings of geese here and there. Nice.
