Bpitch momentarily takes one eye off the dancefloor and returns to the sort of futurist electronic sensibilities that characterised many of its early, more home-listening oriented releases for this debut by Marit Posch, the young lady in charge of the label's promotions. Posch's musical background is as a classically-trained vocalist, but having been immersed in a scene that produced the likes of Modeselektor and Apparat, it should come as no surprise that when she did finally come to committing her songs and voice to hard disk, it would be against a backdrop of neon synthesizers and electroid rhythmic pulses. Working for Bpitch certainly seems to have proved advantageous to Posch, who has called upon collaborators like the aforementioned Apparat, Zander VT, Headkit and AGF, who makes a vocal contribution to the catchily titled '1-1+1-1+1-...=1/2'. Happy In Grey is closest in spirit to the work of Barbara Morgenstern or even label boss Ellen Allien's own Berlinette album from a few years ago, and will doubtlessly appeal to fans of the kind of electronic pop music only Berlin seems to be able to produce.
