Boomkat Product Review:
“The long-awaited return of the dark Swedish romantic Erik Levander is a haunting album that falls in the cracks between classic Fennesz records, Ben Frost and murky The Cure bootlegs on YouTube.
It's a dramatic and emotional record that covers a lot of different ground. More than before Erik blurs the boundaries of acoustic, analogue and digital while putting classic instrumentation, lo-fi flea market electronics, shoegaze roots, computer music and goth attitude all in the same pot with just the right amount of aggression to spice things up a bit.
Having previously recorded with Danish pop stars Efterklang and Swedish improv troupe Fria Konstellationen, Erik has an input varied enough to showcase multiple sides / visions at once – as you may hear on his previous records for Rumraket and Neon labels.
The final mixing touches on "Halv" were made by Mads Brauer (Efterklang, Liima) and the one and only Fransesco Donadello (Vox-ton, Calyx studios) who also did the mastering.
"Halv" is high-quality mood music for those who keep getting lost.”
