Boomkat Product Review:
Lo-Fi electronic pop appears to be very much ‘de rigeur’ at the moment, and worryingly, so do slightly left-leaning Christians (hello Sufjan). Fitting then that Asthmatic Kitty should find a new band that weld these two things together quite perfectly with 19 ditties to God, love, water and wine all clocking it at just half an hour! Strange you might think, but the songs don’t feel short, they’re just quite errr… fast, for this kind of music. Half-Handed Cloud have a sound which could be compared to DNTEL or The Postal Service after huffing a tank of Nitrous, or possibly the more joyous end of the Morr Music catalogue, constructed only with old childrens keyboards and soft toys. As you will no doubt have guessed already, we’re in twee central here with a dollop of playful on top for good measure, but as much as I feel I should be allergic to ‘Halos & Lassos’, it’s very lovely in it’s own special way.
