Boomkat Product Review:
More potentially shark-jumping low production value garage rock, this time from Woodsist's The Fresh & Onlys. Annoyingly, just when you're expecting this fad to burn itself out, along comes another undeniably good echo-fuzz romp, with the likes of 'No Second Guessing' and the cinematic '60s psych-pop influence of 'What's His Shadow Still Doing There' all helping take the no-fi movement to a level above the thrashy incompetence of Vivian Girls et al. Up there with recent efforts from Ganglians and Box Elders, Grey-Eyed Girls is an infectious and intelligent rock record, regardless of how heavily stylised the sound engineering might be. Recommended.
