Boomkat Product Review:
AD93’s Lith Dolina imprint ventures a retrospective for mutant fashionista raver IVVVO
Filling the label’s 2nd catalogue number after a comp of IDM/D&B, they rake back thru the murky early rave years of London-based Portuguese producer IVVVO circa his emergence from the post-witch house milieu, and prior to his turns for Halcyon Veil.
The seven cuts showcase IVVVO’s collage style mutation of classic rave tropes in a sort of fashion party simulacra, growing from screwed witch house noise on ‘If Not Now’ to haunted grunge house in ‘Insecure’ and coruscating techno on ‘Voices’, with turns into lusher rave extraction recalling Lee Gamble works on ‘Broke Over Me Like a rainstorm’, and darkside rave collage ‘2 Live’, plus Rezzett-esque worn out jungle of ‘Fever.’
