Boomkat Product Review:
With influence clearly coming from Joy Division, Morrissey, The Cure and Blondie, it would seem impossible for me to hate this record. The Organ manage to blend the good bits of 80s depression laden foppish indie with the playfulness of Debbie Harry and make it damn good value for money. Fun, without losing that sense of misery, and punchy without losing that wistful air of romance, they certainly do what they do very well. ‘Steven Smith’ is a track which could have been left off any one of the Smiths albums, ‘A Sudden Death’ wouldn’t have sounded odd on Blondie’s ‘Parallel Lines’ - yet vocalist Katie Sketch’s mournful tones have enough beauty in them to keep you coming back for more of that bittersweet nostalgia for days gone by.
